Icing Colours

A question I get asked very often is about Wilton’s icing colours – how long are they good for and how do you know it’s time to chuck them out?

Icing colours are practically everlasting, as is seen with many flavourings. You will know when they’ve gone bad. They’re at their best even 2 -3 years from the time you bought them and tend to keep their gel-like consistency fairly well.

If they do, however, seem dry to the touch, don’t be so quick to dunk them in the bin! Add a few drops of glycerin, give it a good mix and see them come back to life.
